GEOLOGY
Jade is made up of two minerals, Jadeite and Nephrite. It is found in large chunks formed in metamorphic rocks, mainly in subduction zones (where Earth’s tectonic plates meet). Jade forms as a result of highly pressurised Nephrite and it was widely carved into axes, blades and hammers in ancient times.
