Worst nightmare
The family home of our founder, Abdul Karim, was bombed in Gaza on Monday 19th of February 2024, killing his beloved mother, brother, sister-in-law and their 3 children as the whole family was seated for dinner after a day of fasting. His father was critically injured, while his sister, cousins and other relatives suffered minor injuries. Besides causing great grief, this tragedy has left the surviving family homeless and displaced in their homeland, without access to medical care, in a catastrophic war zone with constant bombardment, indiscriminate violence and forced starvation – nowhere is safe in Gaza. The family has come face to face with their worst nightmare.
Evacuation
After these immeasurable losses, evacuation out of Gaza is now the highest priority. The only way to evacuate them to safety in Egypt is to pay $5000-10.000 per adult to cross the border. Abdul Karim has 19 remaining close family members inside Gaza that need to cross – his injured dad, his youngest brother, youngest sister, and the families of his 3 other sisters and their children and spouses (who survived the blast with moderate injuries as they were next door to the family home that was hit). This means almost $200.000 in evacuation costs – not to mention medical care, food and accommodation costs until they find a place to settle.
